Games have become too popular these days, they really have become an industry. What’s wrong with that, you ask? After all, this means that game studios have more funding and, as a result, they will release better quality games. No matter how it is!

This means that their products are becoming more popular. And popular culture is characterized by the dominance of easy-to-read pop music, which sells well, although it has zero cultural value.

Even the most uneducated and youngest player, of whom the majority, should be involved. Modern game development outsourcing company is more and more inclined to develop mobile farms and arcades with colorful balls, which have primitive gameplay and zero plot, but, on the other hand, are easy to learn and draw money out of the player well.

1. Paid customization

First of all, the potential profit from the game is estimated, which is why we get paid skins and hats.

 In old RPGs, you could almost always choose a character’s hairstyle, change the color and shape of clothes, even get a tattoo. Many players devoted a lot of time to the appearance of their character, even in games in which there is no network component, for them it was part of the gameplay in which a person can express their individuality. Now, if you want to show individuality, pay money.

What is the look of the character … some publishers even sell music and images for loading screens.

The content that should embellish and diversify the game in the modern world is available only to those who are willing to pay money for it.

2. Excessive stereotyped and cliched games

When developing stories for games, marketing departments are working nowadays – they offer the types and characters that must appear in the trailer for the game in order for it to sell well.

The above phenomenon comes to the fact that in games everything is like a blueprint, in most cases we see the same types and characters and not only in games.

In the animation industry, we also see the same characters (but in different covers) from cartoon to cartoon.

3. Blind trend following

The reasons for this follow from the previous paragraph. Marketers study competitors’ products and identify promising and unpromising trends.

At first, there was a trend for crafting – in all games in a row, to the place and out of place, the mechanics of machines and crafting were added. And this applies not only to the mechanics but also to the setting. For example, DayZ set the trend for zombies, and as a result, I saw over 9000 shooters, slashers, RPGs, and other games about zombies, without a plot, not carrying something new, but about zombies.

Then there were trends for survival, for card games.

But the studios do not seem to understand that it is possible to release cardboard boxes for The Witcher, Skyrim, Dota, but there will be no such success as HearthStone, elementary because the copy is always worse than the original, trends go away faster than you release games. Instead of creating ideas (as was the case in Starcraft, The Witcher, Call of Duty and other games), the studios endlessly copy the trends that have shot from each other.

4. Replacing an interesting level design with a beautiful picture

The clearest example of this aspect is Overwatch. The maps in it are flat to the maximum, no destructibility of objects, a minimum of multi-level, no shelters. The levels are almost entirely made up of corridors and battlegrounds of varying sizes. But, on the other hand, there are a bunch of animations, kawaii characters, and very colorful effects. There is nothing wrong with high-quality effects and characters, it’s even good, but not in the case when they are trying to replace the elaboration of game levels with this colorfulness. The beautiful cover will sooner or later get bored, in my opinion, visual impressions alone are not enough to make the game fun.

5. Simplification of the gameplay by reducing the variability of the gameplay

This applies most of all to modern role-playing games and strategies. In classic RPGs, the player could spend hours digging into the characteristics, with each new level we had to think for a long time what is better to pump in the current situation – strength or eloquence, dexterity, or alchemy, shooting or bludgeoning weapons.

Now, in most games with mobile game development outsourcing, it is enough for a person to choose a character class, after which he will be pumped automatically throughout the game, no longer distracting the player. You don’t have to go far for example – Diablo 3. Yes, it has become easier to play, you can not think at all, but just click and throw castes – the students are happy. But this simplicity is achieved by reducing or completely removing the options for character development. In previous RPGs, each playthrough was unique. The passage of modern RPGs will be the same, even if they are different, unfamiliar with each other, people.
